Considering Home Security Year-Round

<!– @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } A:link { so-language: zxx } –>

Along with the summer months comes an increase in crime rates. But just because summer is now passing into fall and winter is just around the corner does not mean that you should think any less about home security. Even if you live in an area that gets a lot of snow each season, you cannot assume that 3 feet of snow will deter criminals. As you know, criminals thrive when you are least expecting a home intrusion. Thus it is extremely important that you protect your home with equal care all, throughout the year.

At the start of each new year you should review your current security measures and assess their effectiveness over the past year. Think about what went well, what actions are helping, what efforts need improvement, et cetera. Of course, you don’t have to do this right after the ball drops on New Year’s Eve. The point is that you become aware of home security at least once a year. Obviously, the more time and effort you put into protecting your home, the more safe that it will be.

After discussing your current security situation, you might decide that it is time to make a few upgrades. You already have a few strategically placed floodlights on the exterior of you house. How do you improve from there? Consider installing motion sensor lights. Along with your flood lights, these lights will further deter criminals because they turn on when they detect the motion of a human being. The criminal will likely be scared away, and you will be alerted that something is going on outside of your house. Motion sensor lights are definitely a simple, yet effective way to protect your home.

Another upgrade that you can make is by installing a home security system. If you already have one setup, you should at least make sure that it is in working order and that it is providing the protection you need. But if you are entirely new to security systems, you might find the selection process a bit overwhelming. For this reason you should consult a security professional who can help you to select the best system according to your budget.

You’ll definitely want to set up an alarm system that will alert local police of any emergencies. This is especially important if you are not at home and unable to respond to a sounding alarm. You should also look into setting up a video surveillance system so that you can monitor the action within and without your home at all hours. Don’t let these technologies frighten you. They exist to keep you and your home safe.

No matter the season, home security is important year round. Criminals can strike at any time, and more often than not, they act when you are least suspecting. At least once a year you ought to evaluate your current security system and make the appropriate adjustments to better protect your home. The effort that you put in to protecting your house pays off when another year passes without any problems.

Why Do you Need a Home Security Camera Kit?

Although a home security system is essential to keeping your property well-guarded, it can also be very costly, depending on what service you ask to install your system. The problem is that not only will you be spending money on the various components for a home security system; you will also be spending on the labor for having those components installed in your house. But security doesn’t have to be expensive and you can actually get a home security camera kit to get you started on good protection for your home.

Starter

There are some brick-and-mortar stores which offer starter kits for you to help you set up your home security system by yourself The home security camera kit includes a camera and some software that you need to put into your computer. Of course, there are some specifications that your computer must have in order for the camera to be able to connect to the home security camera kit. But with all the requirements complete, all you have to do is install the software and the camera will automatically connect itself to the computer. This is especially helpful for those who do not want to go through the technical hassle of having to install cameras into their homes.

A typical starter home security camera kit will probably set you back about $300 to $400. This is quite a big difference from the usual systems that will probably cost you over $1000. The neat thing about the starter kit is that you can buy more cameras of the same brand and install those using the same software. Some kits will allow the PC to handle up to 6 cameras at one time.

What You Get

What’s good to know is that, because we’re more and more leaning to digital technology, a typical home security camera kit from years ago is now definitely a long way off compared to the typical kit that we have today. Starter kits have cameras that can do a variety of things.

First of all, they can cover high-resolution color video for you to playback after recording for some time. It’s digital so the feed should be very smooth and clear.

These home security kits have also cameras which works both as a surveillance and as motion detectors! Once movement is detected in a room where the camera is placed, the camera will start to record. You can have the camera send you email or cell phone alerts and you can view the footage of the camera from anywhere in the world over the internet, provided that your system is connected to the Internet as well. The software that comes with it is usually very simple to use and you can also download third-party software that you can find on the Internet which will probably be able to communicate with your home security camera kit as well.

With the development of home security camera kit, your home and family’s safety need not be too costly for you to afford now. With computers and services going digital, anything is possible in the realm of wireless cameras and other surveillance equipment.

If you are clueless as to how to keep a watchful eye on precious things – and precious ones – at home, buy yourself a starter home security camera kit and see the possibilities of home security for yourself.

Honeywell Home Security – Keeping Homes Safe for Generations

Home security is one great priority in these days when danger just seems to pop out of nowhere. Fortunately there are many people who have devoted much of their work into keeping other people safe and secure. There are the police forces, security agencies, the bureaus of investigations, and private companies that provide people with ways of protecting themselves. A prime example of such companies is Honeywell, one of the leaders in home security products, who have served people for many generations.

Honeywell traces its roots back to the year 1885 when Albert Butz, an inventor, patented his design for an alarm and a furnace regulator. Thus the Butz Thermo-Electric Regulator company was born and was later renamed into Electric heat Regulator Co. and finally to Minneapolis Heat Regulator Co., providing people with security from excessive heating and accidental fires. Less than two decades later, Mark Honeywell, an engineer formed his Honeywell Heating Specialty Co., which specialized in heat generators for hot water. The two companies merged in 1927 to form the Minneapolis-Honeywell Regulator Co, to provide people with the best protection from excessive heating.

After developing other products like the thermostat, jeweled clocks, gyroscopes, among many others Honeywell would continue its venture into the other known aspects of home security. In 1957, Minneapolis-Honeywell Regulator Co. bought an alarm and fire detection firm, which would start off its long and continued service of providing security for homeowners. The black and red sticker bearing the label “Protected by Honeywell” would soon be displayed in millions of home windows all over North America to signify that the house is equipped with Honeywell home security system.

Now, Honeywell’s home security line is unsurpassed. Among is most prized products are its sensor-alarm line which includes motion sensors, photoelectric beams, special application sensors, glass breakage detectors, sounders and strobes, door and window contacts, hold up switches, and other home security accessories. These ensure that no intruder breaks into the home through any possible entry point.

Honeywell is also a leader in remote alarm communications and video security system. Its great array of products include internet-capable alarm systems, cellular phone-connection capabilities, cellular fire radios, remote video security cameras, digital alarm receivers, among many others. These ensure that homeowners would immediately be alerted if something suspicious happens in their houses even if they are miles away.

Honeywell has existed as a company of great service for several decades. With the great offerings that Honeywell can give, people can be given peace of mind whether they are in or out of their homes.

Choosing the Best Home Security System

What is the best home security system for you? This should be the first question on your mind whether you are building or buying a new house for you and your family. You will need only the best home security system to protect your loved ones as well as your valuables. But there are so many options out there that it can leave you rather confused about picking out the best home security system. To make it easier for you to pick out the best home security system, narrow it down to looking at the features of a hard-wired system and a wireless system.

The Hard-Wired System

This may be the best home security system for you if whatever is described here will suit your lifestyle and your needs. A hard-wired setup will usually be best installed while you are building your house so that you can install all the needed cables ahead of time. This will save you the time and energy of drilling holes into your walls and ceiling later on just to install the best home security system. Many of the components for use with this type of system are also much cheaper, which perhaps makes it the best home security system for you and for your pocket. But the problem is that you may be spending more on maintenance costs later along the line. This is probably the only reason why this will not be the best home security system for you. The great thing about hard-wired components is that no matter how far you need to place any cameras or microphones, you won’t have to worry about any transceiver signals getting weak since they run through the wires. Wireless components must be placed depending on signal strength between the mother console and the cameras themselves. This makes the hard-wired system the best home security system for this aspect alone.

The Wireless System

Your other option for the best home security system is to go wireless. A wireless system has a lot to offer and one of the reasons it is the best home security system is that it can be installed whether or not you are building a house or moving into an older one. This means that you do not have too many chores to do when it comes to drilling holes and running cables through your house since there are none. The other reason it could be the best home security system for you is that it may be an expensive investment but overall maintenance costs down the line are very cheap. In fact, you will only probably have to worry about maintaining the power sources for any cameras, microphones, or motion detection devices that you will set up in your house. The one feature that really sets this apart as the best home security system is that since it is wireless, you can set up this system to work on a WIFI network. This means that you will be able to monitor your house from any location as long as you are on the Internet.

By narrowing your choices down to wireless or hard-cabled systems, you can now choose the best home security system for you and your house. After all, you only deserve the best home security system to protect the things that you value the most.

24 Hour Home Security for Maine and New Hampshire Residents

<!– @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } –>

Are you a resident of Maine or New Hampshire who is worried about the rise in criminal activity that has been invading homes across the nation in recent decades? If so, you should stop worrying about what the statistics say are your chances are of becoming a victim of burglary or home invasion — though some of the country’s most common crimes, these are also some of the easiest to prevent. And your energy would be better spent putting together a home security system that will ensure the safety of you, your loved ones, and your property. Keep reading for more information on how to do this.

In terms of technology, there are a number of different components available these days — including alarms, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, motion and glass break sensors, door and window sensors, and both real and decoy surveillance cameras, to name just a few — that you will want to pick and choose from according to your personal safety concerns and individual needs when building your overall home security system. But the real key to your safety lies in finding a security company that offers quality 24-hour monitoring.

What is 24-hour security monitoring and who offers it? A lot of home security companies may offer what they describe to be “24-hour monitoring,” but this can be misleading, as not all of them actually end up delivering what they seem to be promising. One thing that you will want to be careful to watch out for is security companies that only use a single monitoring center to manage their services. What are even more concerning are security companies whose monitoring services are not even based in the U.S. at all.

You should look for home security companies that have monitoring centers located near you — for Main and New Hampshire residents, this means somewhere at least near the East Seaboard. When researching security companies, be sure to find out not only about the locations of their monitoring centers, but also about the equipment they use. The best 24-hour monitoring is provided by companies that use interconnected command centers. This is because if the connection is interrupted at one center, another center will be there to back it up and ensure continued service. For this reason, security companies that use interconnected command centers are well equipped for all kinds of different emergencies, at all hours of the day. A company using only one center is not able to offer the same level of protection.

When a quality home security company says “24 hours,” they mean 24 hours. No matter what time your alarm goes off, a signal will be sent to the company’s monitoring center. When this happens, an operator from the monitoring center will try to contact the owner of the alarm system by phone. If no on answers the phone, or if someone answers who can not provide sufficient evidence that they are actually the owner of the home (usually a password or identification code), the monitoring center will immediately notify the proper authorities, who will then send someone to the home to investigate the situation in person.

For Maine residents, adt security maine offers the best in 24-hour protection. Home Security NewHampshire is a great choice for New Hampshire residents looking for non-stop protection.

Planning for Security for Your Home or Business

In terms of home and business security, protecting life is the most important factor, but protecting property must also be given careful thought. Therefore, your security set-up for your home or business should address both life and property.

Your first step should be to meet with a home and business security professional to establish an individualized system suited perfectly for you, since each business and home has its own individual security challenges and needs. These experts will point out flaws in your current security features, introduce you to dangers and risks that you may not be aware of, and help you clearly understand the process.

You will need a separate plan for your home and business security systems. Your friendly professional can help you decide what to use for each place and can help beef up your security at both. Whether a home or a place of business, a simple security camera pointing at the doors can be easily bypassed by a determined criminal. Motion detector lights also are not perfect. But, having these and other security devices work as a team along with monitored surveillance, an alarm sensor on each door and window, and panic buttons, gives you a significantly better shot at avoiding security disasters.

Another key idea for your business security is providing each of your staff members with their own security code; this can help deter inside jobs. A lot of bigger businesses use key cards for this purpose.

In addition to these ideas, business owners and homeowners also need to consider a variety of other concerns, such as fire and storm safety, first aid, escape routes, and routes into the home or office for emergency workers.

A lot of measures exist in securing a home and business from all kinds of danger. Your security efforts will be the most effective if you establish a plan to integrate them into a system that can reach its full potential.

How to arm a home security system?

We have a security system that isn’t fully functional due to issues with the poor installation but we would still like to be able to arm it at night. Does anyone know how to simply turn on the chimes? No need to fully arm it so police or fire are notified (not like they get notified anyway since the system isn’t functioning yet we pay), just want the noise if a door or window is opened. System is a Honeywell.

Oh yeah, NEVER buy from Firstline Security out of Colorado. They take your monthly payments, stick you with a system that doesn’t work, leave you with a defunct phone line and tell you to upgrade if you want it fixed or pay over $900 to have a non-functioning system removed! We’re still fighting with them to fix our system. Nice gig if you can get it!
We are locked into an agreement that they won’t release us from even though the monitor company they go thru has admitted they can not see our system. So stopping payment would only send our account to collections. Not a smart move.
